Genograms are a favorite tool among family therapists because they so quickly help to gather information about intergenerational dynamics. While these blocks can have many uses, they are especially helpful in sandtray. The classic squares, circles and triangles from the genogram structure are available as wooden blocks that can be placed in to the sandtray. Individual miniatures representing each family member can be placed on top of the the blocks, which are coated in paint that allows names and dates and character qualities to be easily added to that member’s block and then erased. With all the family members perched on top of their individual blocks, there is plenty of room in the sand for representation of family patterns and relationships with additional figures.
Starter pack includes five squares, five cylinders and two triangles for $45. Any needed additional block can be purchased for $4.00.
